Shabby was the house
Summer Rain leaks thru roof like strings of pearl
Winter wind rages thru cracks of window
Mom stich over size coat of many colors
Daft or innocent
Amidst all mockeries from those rich kids
I was happy as the swallows
Who gladly set home on beam of our front porch
Can my concrete mansion now top that?
All the riches in the world
Work my bones to death
Never shall I bring back that heavenly slum
Gone was the home
Gone with the heart
